The benefit of setting it on-line is that you can close Outlook (and shutdown your computer) and people mailing you will still be getting your away-message. Some have named it “Away message”, “Holiday notification”, “Automatic response” or something like that. Usually you can find an Out of Office setting in the Options section. If you are not in an Exchange environment, your ISP might provide Out of Office functionality in the web based mailbox (ask your ISP for the web address to check your mail via a browser if you do not know this). It also has loop protection to prevent auto-reply loops. It even has the option to delegate this tasks to someone else like HR managers, receptionists, assistants or team leaders.

Since the Exchange server sends the Automatic Reply message, you can close Outlook and shutdown your computer and it will still send the message.Īre you an Exchange administrator and need to regularly manage the Automatic Replies settings for your users?ĬodeTwo Exchange Rules Pro simplifies this task with its Auto Respond module and also offers some other management features which Exchange doesn’t offer itself. If you are using an Exchange account, you can set the Automatic Reply or Out of Office Assistant (OOF) to have the Exchange server reply with a specific message while you are away. While this is primarily an Exchange account feature, there are several workarounds for POP3 and IMAP accounts as well.

How to enable this depends on which Outlook version that you are using and which mail account type that you are using. The notifications are unreliable. An Out of Office Assistant (OOF) allows you to set an automatic reply message when you are away. My fix is running Outlook 24/7 on one monitor. Off as just poor design, but most recently I've been having the toast notifications in Outlook popup sometimes up to ten minutes after the e-mails have arrived (and in many cases already been deleted or replied to). Immediately I noticed interface lag in all of the Office applications due to the new transitions that are applied in various menus. It all began when I upgraded from Office 2010 to Office 2013. This issue is making Outlook 2013 nearly unusable for me, and I cannot begin an enterprise rollout of Office 2013 until I find a resolution.

Outlook 2010 and Active Sync clients will alert immediately, and Outlook 2013 will take up to 30 seconds to update the Inbox counter and listing to show the message/alert. The precise symptom is that someone sends me an email.

Even Windows Mail on the same client will alert immediately. It is NOT a network or server issue as ALL clients connecting via Outlook 2010 and Active Sync are instant and several test systems with Outlook 2013 all experience I've tried disabling Graphics Acceleration and no fix. Using Outlook 2010 on the same system is near instant. Inbound emails will often take a significant amount of time to appear in my Inbox. I have a Windows 8/8.1 system with Outlook 2013 connected to an Exchange 2010 server via Outlook Anywhere. I just went in, adjusted the cache size settings to ALL from 12 months. Outlook 2013 has the option to limit cache size and defaults to 12months. I then remembered something when I was setting up Outlook 2013. As you mentioned, disabling cache mode would solve I would do a search and as I clicked emails, I would have a delay displaying emails. Outlook 2010 had no issues but with Outlook 2013, major lags. I ran into the same issue and nothing I did seemed to solve it.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to test with Exchange 2013, but my Exchange 2010 install is current on updates, and as stated in the original post there are no issues with Outlook 2010 clients running This is purely an issue with cached mode on Outlook 2013.

unless Windows itself is a conflict, which I doubt. No plugins are installed to Outlook, and this happens on clean installs of Windows with only Office 2013 installed, so no background conflicts either. If I switch to Online Mode, the issue corrects itself.
