I really do appreciate the help on this guys. I've always been cautious when messing around with that but it's not to say it wasn't messed up before hand either. I guess I could check that a bit better tonight as well. I looked close but I'm not sure I'd be able to physically see a pin hole in it. I hadn't noticed any rips, tears or holes in the CV slide boot. I did hook up the charge once while it was running to see if it wasn't getting enough volts but even with the charger on it, it was still acting up. It was dead when I got it but I put it on the charger for a couple hours and it's been fine ever since. That's what I get for not taking my time and rushing things. Shoulda just checked it while I was in there. I just saw it was off a bit and figured that was the problem. I didn't mic the valve clearance when I had it opened up. Would you be able to see it without pulling the flywheel? Obviously I would have to pull it to replace, but just to check it? Then I guess I'll dive in and see if that key's sheered. I'll definitely spray around the boot tonight and see if that works.

'05 Polaris Predator 500 '87 Honda TRX250R #326 TORN series '89 Honda TRX250R/CR500 hybrid '84 Honda Odyssey FL250 - wife's Some carb popping but mainly exhaust popping and backfiring. So it runs like crap acceleration from 1/4 throttle to WOT but at WOT for a few seconds, will clear out and run good for 10 sec or so before wanting to die. Steady throttle seems to be ok except around 3/4-WOT. Also, if I'm cruising along in high gear, it doesn't have issues. Even close I've gotten bikes to run 20x better than this currently is. I've worked on a ton of carbs before and I can't believe this could be that far off to make it run this horrible.

I want to try racing in XC down here rather than my old 450R but this 'problem' is killing me. Where do I go from here? It's very frustrating because everyone once in a while it clears out and I have a glimmer of hope and it runs like crazy and I'm loving the Fox Podiums. And from what I can tell it has a stock CDI in it. Not sure if someone set them wrong or if they jumped but they were off a few teeth. I've taken the head off and reset the cams. I've disconnected the fuel pump and just ran gravity, blocked off the intake tube. Adjusted the float bowl about 4 different times now. Cleaned and blew out the carb about 6 times now. Even tried a few different needle I had laying around in it. I've tried moving the clip up and down the needle. I've tired mj's from 140 up to 170 in increments of 5 with no luck Although the 140's didn't seem to do well and over 165 was very sluggish. It had a 150mj, 48 pilot, stock needle on 3rd clip down.

At WOT after a few seconds, it seems to clear out and then it screams but if I keep it there too long, it wants to start stalling out on me. And it's probably from 1/4 throttle all the way up. Not so much sitting still but every time when under load. It sputters, backfires, pops.you name it. Barely touch the start button and it fires right up. Actually it looks all bone-stock save for the Yoshi exhaust can. It's super clean and not really modded up.

I got it off a guy that said it ran last year and I kind of know him so I don't think he'd have any reason to b/s me. But now I have an '05 Predator 500 and it's driving me insane. View Member Profile Send Email Find Member's Topics Find Member's Posts Onski69
